Here are some comments I pulled out of the Ann Taylor Facebook Page, which could be useful for the research document, and which demonstrates how the brand is currently received in the US.
It's interesting to note that some of their consumers do describe the brand in the way they see themselves: timeless etc...
We could perhaps learn from the comments on suitability of the clothes for the age range of their consumers.
However, this may not be a totally reliable source, we need to take into account that there's the possibility that they might delete negative comments on the page.

“Casual , but elegant. I love it. specially the Petite sizes.”

“Ann Taylor is great for impact pieces...they cost a lot but they last and add great punch to your otherwise inexpensive wardobe!”

“Love your clothes. The colors are so fresh.”

“Can you make pants with a more modern cut? Lower rise, etc. I look like a mom in all your pants.”

“Does it come in a Signature or Curvy Fit? We don't all have the pencil body type.”

“I like them, but won't be wearing them or any like them. *sigh* Feeling a bit too old? Lol”

“My favorite outfit is an Ann Taylor which never goes out of style.”

“I agree, the length is a deal breaker. Seems like AT has lost site of their customer a bit.”

“I think it looks great on her but I wonder what has happen to AT in the past few months to a year. I am 30 and in a conservative field but don't want to look 60; however the colors lately are for a very limited market. I use to LOVE AT but lately the crazy colors and stripes have me shopping else after 10 years.”

“I have to agree with most of you. This is not work attire, but would be cute for the young. Most of us AT fans are seeing that she is changing her line for the younger generation. But she does still have some lines for us older clients. Mostly tops. Her skirts & pants are changing for the young. If she intends to keep us loyal customers she needs to remember us in her line of clothing choices also.”

“LOVE the bright colors & glad to see the boring neutrals go. Although I am young, I work as a stylist and would like to see Ann Taylor work harder to retain their clientele in the 40-65 yr old range, who still want to maintain a modern look but need the styles & cut of the Ann Taylor collection to work with their body types, which are much different than a 20-40 yr old. I'd hate to be out of luck on wardrobe style when I'm older, after being known as fashionable when I was younger! - As a recent, past employee, I noticed a quick decline in the older clientele "
